EMDR
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) can help clients in processing trauma and related symptoms.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a therapeutic modality utilized to assist clients in processing trauma and alleviate symptoms of distress and discomfort. Here at North Star Counseling Center, we use hand-held tappers which provide alternating bilateral stimulation as we guide our clients through resource building and EMDR protocol. EMDR can reduce physiological symptoms of hyper-arousal, replace negative belief systems and allow unprocessed or material that is “stuck” to become processed. This therapeutic treatment allows disturbing memories and events which have been triggering clients for years, sometimes decades, to finally process so that our client’s minds can begin to heal.
EMDR is a powerful tool in the treatment of trauma for adults and children. We encourage all of our clients to independently research EMDR for more information.
Both of our counselors have attended an intensive three day PESI training in EMDR with trauma specialist and national trainer Linda Curran, BCPC, LPC, CAC-D, CCDP.
